LHC to take up contempt of court petition against Nawaz Sharif today

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) judge Justice Shahid Kareem will today (Thursday) hear the petition pertaining to contempt of court against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The petition filed by Advocate Azhar Siddique, the counsel of civil society’s Amna Malik against former prime minister Nawaz Sharif pertaining to contempt of court has been set for hearing.

The court clubbed all the petitions regarding contempt of court by the members of Sharif family.

The court while issuing notice to Maryam Nawaz on contempt of court ordered to submit reply.

Advocate Azhar Siddique said that those who have to formulate the law have been asking whey they were disqualified.

He further said that the insult of institutions will not be tolerated at any cost.

“Giving statements against judiciary is a violation of constitution,” the applicant said.

The applicant prayed the court to order action against the former prime minister for contempt of court.
