6% growth rate to be achieved in FY2017-18

Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal says Pakistan is on the path to progress and will make its way to top twenty economies by 2030.

Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said some forces are working to halt China-Pakistan Economic Corridor Project, which is a gift for the country.

The Minister said growth target of 6.2 plus percent could have been easily achieved provided peaceful and conducive environment prevailed in the country.

However, he expressed hope that six percent growth rate will be achieved during the current fiscal year.

Ahsan Iqbal said as many as seven thousand MW electricity has been energized so far, which is 42 per cent of total energy resources developed during the past seventy years.

He said by May next year, about 3000MW more electricity will be added to the national grid, bringing the total generation during the PML-N tenure to 10,000 megawatt.
