Papua New Guinea hit by 6.9 magnitude earthquake


A strong magnitude six point nine earthquake has struck off the cost of Papua New Guinea .

According to the US Geological Survey , hazardous tsunami waves are forecast for some coastlines.

There were no immediate reports of damage or casualties.

The quake struck at a shallow depth of ten kilometer and around one hundred sixty-two kilometer from the town of Rabaul on New Britain Island. APP/AFP
