US F-16 crashes at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan
KABUL: US F-16 Falcon fighter jet crashed at Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan during takeoff.

 

A statement by US Air Forces Central Command said “US Air Force F-16 assigned to the 45th Air Expeditionary Wing crashed during take-off on March 29 at about 8:30 pm near Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan.”

 

Pilot safely ejected from the jet and is under evaluation at Craig Joint Theater Hospital on Bagram Airbase.

 

Officials said “The F-16 at Bagram Airfield provide 24-hour over-watch and close-air-support for ground units in Afghanistan.”

 

Officials claimed that it is hard to believe that the jet was targeted by enemy but investigations are under process.

 


Bagram is located 30 miles away from Kabul in the north and is one of the biggest air base under usage of NATO forces in Afghanistan.
