National policy soon to regulate Afghan refugees

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Minister for Interior, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday said Afghan refugees issue is quite serious and soon a national policy would be conceived to regulate their stay in Pakistan.
The successive governments had braced burden of hundreds of thousands of refugees in Pakistan but now the time has come to prepare a comprehensive national policy on the matter, he added.
In an informal talk with mediapersons here at an iftar dinner, Ch. Nisar said a meeting has been planned on return of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif which would decide upon which principles the Afghan refugees would stay in Pakistan.
Replying to a question, he said Pakistan had shown a good gesture and permitted Afghan refugees in the country but unfortunately the rules and regulations were not followed after they were allowed inside the country.
He said the first principle was that international community would help and support Pakistan and the other was that no refugee would be allowed to purchase property in Pakistan.
