Punjab home department gives final warning to former PM Nawaz Sharif

ISLAMABAD - The Punjab home department has given final warning to former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to submit his medical reports within three days.

A letter written by the provincial home department, dated January 28, stated that if Nawaz fails to submit the medical report, the authority will decide the matter of his extension application as per the available facts brought on record.

Nawaz has sought extension in his stay abroad on the expiry of the four weeks period allowed by the court to visit London for medical treatment.

In January, a picture of Nawaz along with his family at a restaurant surfaced on social media. Following this, the administration sought latest reports about Nawaz's health from his personal physician Dr Adnan Khan so that it could decide on his application seeking extension to stay abroad for treatment

On January 15, the Punjab government rejected Nawaz's medical reports which had been submitted on December 23, 2019.

SAPM Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the reports submitted to the government are not different from that of the one released here by a penal of doctors.

She further said that Nawaz's personal physician Khan has been asked to submit the former PM's fresh medical reports.

Nawaz has been in London since November 19, 2019.
