U.N. employees hold protest in Gaza against U.S. aid cut

U.N. employees held protest rally in Gaza on Monday against U.S. decision to cut its annual contribution toward the United Nations' Relief and Welfare Agency.

Schools, clinics and food distribution centers in the Gaza Strip remained closed due to a one-day strike by the 13,000 employees of the United Nations agency that serves the Palestinians.

UNRWA runs 278 schools in Gaza attended by some 300,000 students.The United States had announced to withhold 65 million dollars from U.N. Relief Agency for Palestinians on January 16.
