Diamer Bhasha Dam fund: How much money has been deposited so far?

*ISLAMABAD - The government has collected Rs 1.6 billion so far for the purpose of the construction of Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam in Pakistan.*
At the moment, the total amount as of August 29, 2018 stands at Rs 1,584,765,924 in the Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund Account, established by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on the instructions of Supreme Court.
The fund account was established back in July, 2018, with accounts have been opened in all SBP (BSC) field offices, commercial banks and microfinance banks. The fund can receive donations from both domestic and international donors -individuals and companies.
As of August 28, 2018, Rs 51,774,890 were collected through the central bank SMS service. Whereas, Rs 26.5 million was collected from Interbank transfer service (IBFT) whereas an amount of over Rs 1.49 billion was collected at bank branches.
Earlier on Tuesday, the SBP in order to facilitate the donations/payments made to Supreme Court of Pakistan’s Diamer Basha and Mohmand Dam Fund Account through payment cards (debit, credit or prepaid cards), decided that all issuing and acquiring banks in Pakistan shall not charge any service fee including interchange fee, merchant discount rate, transaction fee etc. on such transactions.
