US Diplomat set free by Islamabad Police

ISLAMABAD – Police in Islamabad Monday freed the United States second secretary, Chad Rex, who had been taken into custody after his car hit and injured two motorcyclists.

The secretary was set free on the basis of diplomatic immunity after written confirmation from the Foreign Office.

Meanwhile, the security officer of the US Embassy was Monday granted bail. Security officer Taimoor was arrested after he attacked police in a bid to get the US secretary released from custody.

On Monday, Secretariat police presented the security officer in the court of Judicial Magistrate Jawad Adil. The court granted the security officer bail and ordered him to deposit surety bonds worth Rs 50,000.
