Thousands of people from Sikh community gathered in New York to reaffirm their demand for a sovereign Sikh state.
Wearing orange, purple and yellow turbans, they also showcased their culture to convey the message that Sikhs are a separate nation.
The gathering showed that the campaign for independence of Indian Punjab is rapidly gaining momentum in the diaspora.
Coordinator of Sikh Day Parade Gurdev Singh Kang said every year Sikh community from North America come together in April and resolves their commitment to the Independence of Punjab and this will continue until achieving Sikh homeland Khalistan. APP/AFP
