After Kabul, Twin blasts rock Nangarhar killing Police Chief

KABUL - A senior police official was killed in twin blasts in eastern Nangarhar province of Afghanistan, the local government authorities said.

The incident took place at around 7 am local time in the vicinity of Behsud district of the province.

The provincial government media office in a statement said the district criminal investigation director Gen. Nasir Ahmad was killed in the explosions.

The statement further added that four civilians including two children also sustained injuries in the explosions.

According to the provincial government, the civilians wounded in the explosions have been shifted to the hospital and their health condition has been reported as satisfactory.

Provincial governor Mohammad Mangal expressed condolences regarding the killing of Gen. Nasir Ahmad and condemned the attack by the terrorist groups, according to the governor’s office.

No individual or group has so far claimed responsibility behind the incident.

The security situation in eastern Nangarhar province continue to deteriorate during the recent months as the anti-government armed militant and terrorist groups including ISIS loyalists are attempting to expand foothold and insurgency in this province.
