PIA's Boeing 777 fleet in crisis: Technical faults escalate amid financial crunch

KARACHI: ARY News reported on Friday that due to inadequate maintenance and repair work, numerous Boeing 777 aircraft belonging to Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the national flag carrier, experienced technical issues during international flights.

Sources mentioned that the airline's engineering department's neglect of maintenance and repairs has led to a continuous increase in technical faults in PIA aircraft.

These faults not only pose flight safety risks but also create passenger inconveniences and financial problems for the airline. Further reports reveal that during flights to Saudi Arabia, multiple Boeing 777 aircraft encountered technical problems, resulting in the expenditure of millions of dollars on repairs.

One recent incident involved a fault in the auxiliary power unit (APU) exhaust of flight PK-760 from Jeddah to Lahore. This led to a plane delay of more than a day as the aircraft was grounded due to the fault.

This incident followed another on the same day, where smog warnings were triggered in the cockpit of another PIA aircraft scheduled to travel from Sialkot to Jeddah. The PIA spokesperson assured that passengers from the grounded plane would soon depart from Lahore to Jeddah.
