Nawaz Sharif pardons former COAS and DG ISI, will not pursue accountability demand: report

In London, Shahbaz Sharif, the President of the Muslim League (N), has convinced Nawaz Sharif to forget his stance on demands of accountability of former military officials in connection with "unconstitutional actions" against his elder brother, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

This implies that Nawaz Sharif is inclined towards compromise. He is likely to prioritize the country's economic stability and the maintenance of constitutional principles.

According to a report published in the English newspaper "The Tribune," it is claimed by an informed party source that Nawaz Sharif is now open to a more conciliatory approach. He will emphasize strengthening the country's economic foundations and upholding constitutional principles.

Sources suggest that the change in the statement is a result of discussions between both Sharif brothers. They also stated that the party's opinion was negative regarding the demands for accountability of former Army Chief General (Retd.) Qamar Javed Bajwa and former Director General of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General (Retd.) Faiz Hamid.

The Muslim League (N) sources said that there was a concern that taking this statement forward could lead the party towards a collision course with the establishment because it had never accepted the accountability of its future or former chiefs.

Muslim League (N) sources mentioned that Nawaz Sharif would focus on the economy, unemployment, inflation, and the empowerment of the voters. The issue of accountability for General (Retd.) Bajwa and Lieutenant General (Retd.) Hamid would gradually become ambiguous. This statement has been termed "impartial."

They also claimed that it is an understanding that if the Muslim League (N) comes into power, Nawaz Sharif will choose the center, and Shahbaz Sharif will return to Punjab, as he did previously.

Muslim League (N) sources stated that Shahbaz Sharif's visit to London was not related to any change in the stance and that there is no connection between the change in position and the statements of the concerned government.
