CJP Qazi Faiz Isa takes yet another unprecedented step in SC

The Chief Justice and the Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court convened a significant gathering on Thursday, bringing together a distinguished assembly that included the Attorney General for Pakistan, the Advocates-General, the Prosecutors-General representing the provinces, and those from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). This confluence of legal luminaries marked a pivotal moment in Pakistan's legal landscape.

Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, extended a warm welcome to the esteemed participants, underscoring a noteworthy fact – that the largest litigants in the Supreme Court are the federal and provincial governments. This highlights the pivotal role played by their law officers within Pakistan's legal framework, despite historically having limited influence on its operations. It was an acknowledgment of their significance within the legal system.

In a press release following the meeting, CJP Qazi Faez Isa emphasized the importance of soliciting suggestions from each law officer to enhance the efficiency and functionality of the Supreme Court. This approach signified a commitment to reform and improvement within the judicial system.

The law officers, during this gathering, expressed their appreciation for the timely issuance of the monthly cause list for October 2023. However, they also raised concerns about the tardy release of supplementary cause lists, which hampered their ability to prepare adequately for their cases. Reassurances were given that these concerns would be taken into account and addressed.

Beyond these immediate concerns, the meeting served as a platform for the exchange of valuable insights and suggestions. Some of these suggestions found immediate acceptance, while others were earmarked for further examination.

The law officers collectively expressed their gratitude to the Chief Justice and Senior Puisne Judge for convening this historic meeting, recognizing it as a pioneering step in the evolution of Pakistan's legal apparatus.
