The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is facing financial difficulties; however, despite this, there are no cuts in government employees' salaries. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's Finance Minister, Ahmed Rasool Bangash, stated that the reports of salary cuts are mere rumors. He mentioned that the federal government is due to disburse 233 billion rupees for the last fiscal year.
The Prime Minister's Special Assistant assured the province's remaining dues would be paid. He emphasized that there are no salary cuts happening, and this was an informal discussion. It should be noted that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had decided to impose a financial emergency to avoid defaults.
It was also reported that a 35% increase in employees' salaries might be rolled back, which would result in a monthly savings of 9 billion rupees. The Finance Department considered other options as well, including a 25% reduction in salaries, leading to an 8 billion rupee monthly savings, and implementing strict financial discipline in IM&I hospitals.
The provincial government is deliberating on salary cuts among other measures to navigate the ongoing financial crisis.
