Pakistan, India declared joint winners of Asian Hockey Champions Trophy

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and India were declared joint winners of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2018 as the final was abandoned due to heavy down pour on Sunday in Muscat, Oman.

The final of the Fifth Hero Asian Champions Trophy Hockey Tournament was supposed to be played at Muscat’s
Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex but it could not start due to the heavy rain, a spokesman of Pakistan
Hockey Federation said.

Toss decided that India would keep the trophy first i.e. for the initial half period, while after that it would handed over
to Pakistan.
Pakistan were appearing in the fifth consecutive final, while India had missed just once. Both Pakistan and India have won the title twice. Pakistan won the 2012 and 2013 editions of the event, while India won in 2011 and 2016.
