In Islamabad, the Afghan diplomatic mission head was summoned by the Foreign Office on Tuesday, where four demands were conveyed, including the extradition of Hafiz Gul Bahadur responsible for the recent terrorist attack in Bannu.
The attack claimed two lives and injured 10, with the ISPR identifying the suicide bomber as an Afghan national affiliated with Hafiz Gul Bahadur Group.
The Afghan Embassy representative faced a strong protest over the attack, marking the 16th suicide attack in Pakistan by an Afghan national. While the Foreign Office didn't issue an official statement, sources revealed the demands, including a thorough investigation into the Bannu attack and decisive action against perpetrators. Pakistan also urged immediate "verifiable actions" against all terrorist groups and their sanctuaries, emphasizing the need to apprehend Hafiz Gul Bahadar and prevent Afghan soil from being used for terrorism against Pakistan.
Tensions between the two nations persist, with the Afghan Taliban's reluctance to act against the TTP contributing to the strained relations.
Despite increased terrorist attacks in Pakistan since the Taliban's return to power in Afghanistan, the Afghan Taliban government has been pushing for talks between Pakistan and the TTP, indicating a complex diplomatic situation.
