Zahid Hamid to be appointed as Pakistan Ambassador to an important country
KARACHI – Former Law Minister Zahid Hamid is likely to be assigned a key role in coming days, claimed a private news channel.
The media outlet claimed that Hamid would be appointed as an ambassador of Pakistan to an important country after his resignation.
It added that the former law minister had offered to resign when the violent clashes erupted in Islamabad between the forces and the protesters. But, some members of the Cabinet disagreed with Hamid.
However, the minister had to tender his resignation in line with the agreement, brokered by a senior officer of Pak Army Major General Faiz Hameed according to which the government would also release the detained workers of Tehreek e Labbaik Pakistan.
Following the agreement, the religious party had called off his 22-day long sit-in in the capital city and asked the protesters in other cities to end the strike.
In his resignation, the law minister had claimed that he was not responsible for the controversy that stemmed out of Election Bill 2017.
