Muhammad Irfan apologises to the nation in a press conference over PSL Spot Fixing
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Cricket Team pace bowler Muhammad Irfan held an important press conference today over the issue of the PSL spot fixing scandal.

In a press conference, Irfan apologised to the nation and admitted that a mistake had been committed on behalf when he had not informed PCB about his meeting with the fixers.

"I admit my mistake and would like to apologise to the nation from the bottom of my heart," he said. "I hope people find it in their hearts to forgive me," he added.

Irfan claimed that he had received offers from bookies from two different places. The left-arm pacer admitted that he did not inform the board about the offers that he had received.

The ban is in effect from March 14, 2017 and while his central contract with the board has been suspended for six months, the ban could be extended to one full year if the pacer does not comply with the conditions imposed by PCB and does not render his full cooperation to the board relating to anti-corruption.

The Islamabad United fast bowler is also required to pay a fine of Rs 1 million to PCB. Irfan's suspension means the bowler will miss out on the Champions Trophy which will commence from June this year in England.
