Nawaz Sharif health deteriorates in Adiala Jail

RAWALPINDI - A three-member team of the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) carried out medical check-up of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in Adiala Jail on Saturday.

The medical team headed by Dr Aijaz Qadeer along with a mobile laboratory carried out electrocardiography (ECG) and sugar tests of the incarcerated former premier, sources said.

The doctors suggested Sharif got his tests conducted regularly and sleep properly.

The health of Sharif deteriorated due to intense heat in the cell where he is incarcerated.

Earlier a team of doctors from the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology led by Maj-Gen (retd) Azhar Mehmood Kiyani also carried out the medical examination of Sharif and recommended him to be shifted him to a hospital. However, Sharif refused to go to the hospital and preferred to get medical tests inside the jail.

Sharif along with his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Capt (retd) Muhammad Safdar is serving a jail term after an accountability court convicted them in the Avenfield corruption reference.
