Indian court releases on custody parole Kashmiri Hurriyat Leader ShahidIslam

SRINAGAR - In occupied Kashmir, a court of India’s National Investigation Agency (NIA) has granted custody parole of a week to the illegally detained Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Shahid-ul-Islam.

A Srinagar-based English daily, Greater Kashmir, quoting sources reported that Shahid-ul-Islam would be allowed to remain with his family from 10 am to 5 pm and he will have to stay in a nearby police station during the night. It said that nobody other than the family members would be allowed to meet the Hurriyat leader during the custody parole period.

It is to mention here that Shahid-ul-Islam was arrested by the NIA in July 2017 in a false case registered against him and is presently lodged in New Delhi’s Tihar Jail. His wife, Nuzhat Shah, had survived a heart attack on January 12 this year following which she was rushed to a hospital. Since then, his ailing wife and two daughters are demanding his unconditional release.
