Indian tourism industry hit hard by wave of violent protests

NEW DELHI - India, tourism industry has been hit by a wave of violent anti-government protests against a new discriminatory citizenship law.
According to media reports, there has been a sixty percent decline in visitor footfalls in the current month as compared to December last year.
A police inspector overseeing a special tourist police station near Taj Mahal said about two hundred thousand domestic and international tourists canceled or postponed their trip to Taj Mahal in the past two weeks.
Meanwhile, the United States, Britain, Russia, Israel, Singapore, Canada and Taiwan have issued travel advisories asking their citizens to refrain from visiting protest-hit regions.
