SIALKOT: (APP) Punjab Agriculture department has evolved a comprehensive plan for improving productivity and profitability through soil diagnostics, for the promotion of balanced use of macro and micro fertilizers and soil amendments.
Talking to APP here on Sunday, Agriculture source said that under the plan, step were being taken for farmers facilitation through modernized extension service in the Punjab.
He said that under the project soil sampling kits had been distributed to the extension agents across the Province, followed by training programme through specialists.
He said that under 'Farmers Facilitation Through Modernized Extension' project the government would also provide as many as 2500 motorcycles to the Agriculture department, enabling the staff to collect samples from 32 districts of the Province.
He said that 55 motorcycles would be provided in Sialkot under this project.
He said that IT fortified programme would also be launched to connect soil sampling to the laboratories, adding that the sampling process would be started soon to complete target of 600,000 soil samples from 32 districts of the Province by June 30 next year.
