76th birth anniversary of martyred Major Shabbir Sharif, NishanHaider observed across Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - The 76th birth anniversary of Major Shabbir Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider was observed on Sunday. In a tweet, Foreign Office Spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said Pakistan pays tribute to Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed for his unparalleled valour and courage as heroes never die. He embraced martyrdom on December 6, 1971, while defending the motherland in the Sulemanki Sector on the western front. He and his men destroyed four enemy tanks and held two Indian battalions at bay by killing 43 soldiers. Major Shabbir Shaheed was posthumously awarded the Nishan-e-Haider during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971. Major Shabbir Sharif Shaheed was born on this day in 1943 in a village of Gujrat.
