Pakistan seeks $16 billion from international community

New York: Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Munir Akram, has stated that the international community has pledged a collective sum of $16.4 billion for Pakistan's reconstruction and recovery.

Speaking as Pakistan's Permanent Representative at the United Nations, Munir Akram expressed gratitude for the convening of an informal session and thanked the United Nations for its solidarity during the flood crisis. The Secretary-General of the United Nations also expressed full support for Pakistan during the floods.

He mentioned that the United Nations' programs have been instrumental in providing assistance to flood victims and promoting unity, and the international community has committed $16.4 billion for Pakistan's reconstruction and recovery.

Munir Akram emphasized that the United Nations must ensure the implementation of commitments made to Pakistan. The recent floods have caused the most damage in Sindh.
