Rana Sanaullah, a prominent leader of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and former interior minister, made a bold declaration on Thursday. He asserted that individuals responsible for the tumultuous events of the May 9 riots will not be permitted to participate in elections as an alternative to facing legal consequences. This statement was reported during an event where Rana Sanaullah addressed the audience.
In his address, Rana Sanaullah specifically pointed fingers at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, accusing him of displaying arrogance. He expressed concern that certain individuals were advocating for the PTI leader to be allowed to run in upcoming elections.
Sanaullah raised a pivotal question about who would be responsible for investigating the individuals involved in the attack on the Yadgar-e-Shuhada memorial and the subsequent burning of Jinnah House on May 9. He warned that without proper prosecution of the May 9 rioters, such incidents could become a recurring nightmare.
Emphasizing their commitment to justice, Rana Sanaullah reiterated that those implicated in the May 9 riots would face the consequences if found guilty, while the innocent would be exonerated. He clarified that the PML-N's objective has never been vengeance, but rather to shed light on individuals whose actions have contributed to Pakistan's crises.
Looking ahead, Rana Sanaullah shared information about the impending return of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif on October 21. He hinted at an imminent plan to lead the nation out of its current crisis, asserting that the PML-N, under Nawaz Sharif's leadership, aims to guide Pakistan back towards prosperity and development, emphasizing their unwavering dedication to rescuing the nation from turmoil.
