In Saudi Arabia, a visitor can use a non-resident driving license for one year, and there are multiple facilities offered to attract foreign tourists to the country. According to Gulf News, Saudi traffic authorities have stated that visitors are allowed to use a non-resident driving license for one year in the country.
Saudi Arabia is making efforts to diversify its economy, and attracting more tourists is part of this initiative.The Saudi General Traffic Department has mentioned that a visitor can use an international driving license or a valid foreign license for one year from the date of entry into the country.
This came up when the department was answering a question about whether a person with multiple entry visas for business purposes can use a valid foreign driving license.
It is reported that in recent years, Saudi Arabia has introduced a set of designed facilities to attract more foreign tourists, including the introduction of arrival or online tourist visas for citizens of several nationalities. In this context, in July of the previous year, Saudi Arabia initiated a business visit electronic visa, aiming to facilitate opportunities for foreign investors in the country.
It is known that the country aims to achieve a target of 25 million foreign tourists' arrivals this year. Therefore, in recent months, various facilities have been introduced for Muslim pilgrims desiring to perform Umrah, allowing Muslims with various types of entry visas to perform Umrah and visit the Prophet's Mosque ﷺ. Saudi citizens can also invite their foreign friends to visit the country and perform Umrah, as well as apply for a visa. Additionally, Saudi Arabia has introduced a stopover transit visa.
