Custom officials raid compound in Islamabad, recover more luxury vehicles

ISLAMABAD – Customs officials have again raided a compound in the Islamabad.

Officials on Friday recovered 12 more luxury vehicles parked outside a warehouse on Kuri Road near Bani Gala police station in Islamabad.

They had recovered cars link belonging to the Qatari ruling family earlier in the day from the same place. Officials said they had confirmed Qatari ownership from the manager of the warehouse.

According to customs documents, at least Rs4.5 billion in import duty on luxury vehicles recovered from a compound in Rawalpindi were waived from 2012 to 2018.

As many as 330 luxury cars were illegally imported over a period of six years out of which 233 were brought to Pakistan at the behest of of Jassim family.
