In today's match against South Africa, Pakistan's national cricket captain, Babar Azam, expressed his disappointment and regrets at missing an opportunity to secure a victory despite the team's outstanding performance.
During the post-match press conference, Azam conveyed, "Pakistan exhibited remarkable resilience, and it's disheartening that we couldn't seal the game when victory was within our grasp. The entire team is deeply saddened by this defeat."
Team director Mickey Arthur shared his perspective, stating, "We must collectively shoulder the responsibility for this loss."
He continued, "Our players gave their all on the field, but I believe we fell short by 20 to 30 runs. Our bowlers showcased exceptional skills, and we remain dedicated to winning the remaining three matches in this tournament. Our prospects of reaching the final are now uncertain, and the defeat is truly dispiriting."
Arthur emphasized that placing blame on the captain or chief selector would not be just. He asserted, "It's essential for everyone to analyze today's match, and it's evident that the players are united and filled with a strong desire to emerge victorious."
