Despite defeat against South Africa the Pakistan team run rate has improved, because of making it difficult to secure Proteas' victory. This has led to a national team's net run rate improving from 0.07 decimal points to 0.38 decimal points on the points table. However, despite winning two matches, Pakistan is still in the lower ranks with 4 points on the points table.
On the other hand, after the defeat at the hands of South Africa, questions arise about Pakistan's chances of reaching the semi-finals. It has been mentioned that the national team's access to the final four stages of the tournament is dwindling after consecutive fourth losses. However, there is still some hope if either Australia or New Zealand lose atleast two matches.
It remains clear that in Pakistan's 26th match of the World Cup, they came close to victory but were defeated by South Africa in the most thrilling match of the World Cup.
