EU to provide $535m to uplift various sectors in war-torn Afghanistan

The European Union and Afghanistan have signed a financial agreement worth of 535 million dollars for uplift of diverse sectors of the war-torn country of Afghanistan.

The agreement, signed during the two-day Geneva Conference on Afghanistan, focused on development and the beleaguered economy of that county.

The aid agreement made in the summit will support state building and public sector reforms, healthcare, law enforcement, and elections - as well as to address migration and displacement challenges in Afghanistan.

Speaking on the occasion, The European Union's Commissioner for International Cooperation and Development Neven Mimica, said the EU stands side by side with Afghanistan and its people to build a stronger future for the country. (Al-Jazeera)
