The government and the leadership of the religious protestors have reached an agreement to end the sit-in at Faizabad Interchange in Islamabad.
The agreement envisages winding up of sit-in and the country-wide protests. Following the understanding, Minister for Law Zahid Hamid resigned. The religious party had demanded his resignation as the amendment in the law was presented to parliament through his Ministry. The religious party appreciated restoration of 7-B and 7-C clauses in Khatam-e-Nabuwwat law.
It, however, demanded that report of Raja Zafarul Haq may be made public in thirty days and action taken against those responsible as per law of the land. All those arrested during protest would be released within three days and cases against them would be withdrawn. An Inquiry Board would be established to inquire into operation against protestors.
Federal and Punjab Governments would compensate for losses to public and private property during sit-in. The agreement has been signed by Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and Secretary Interior on behalf of the Government and Allama Khadim Hussain Rizvi, Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri and Muhammad Waheed Noor on behalf of the religious party.
In pursuance of the agreement, the sit-in leadership has asked all protestors across the country to wind up their sit-ins and protests and return to their homes. Situation all over the country is improving in wake of the agreement between the government and the protesters.
According to the latest reports, all the motorways are now open for traffic. All roads in twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi have also been opened.
