D.I KHAN: (APP) Gomal Zam Command Area Development Project being executed at a cost of Rs 3.30 billion would bring green revolution in the area, says director of the project Rab Nawaz.
Briefing a meeting held recently, the director said under the project as many as 393 water channels, having total length of one thousand kilometers would be constructed to irrigate Agricultural land in the area and would help give boost to economic activities.
Moreover, he informed that project involved 20 km-long roads network and water management facilities stretching over 2000 hectare of land like sprinkle and drop water irrigation.
He said the work on all segments of the project was going ahead at a fast pace and would be completed by September next year, adding introduction of those facilities under the mega scheme would result in ensuring socio-economic development of the area.
Commissioner Dr. Akhtar Nazir Waraich told the meeting that Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pervaiz Khattak would soon inaugurate water courses constructed on tributary-6 and directed the relevant officials to remove all illegal closures on the channel.
He said also directed the district administration to complete necessary repair of Kulachi-Hatal road as part arrangements for the chief minister's visit to the district.
