Pakistan Foreign Office completely rejects US-India joint statement

Pakistan says the US-India joint statement will further aggravate the already tense situation in South Asia.

In a statement, Foreign Office spokesman said the joint statement has also failed to address key sources of tension and instability in the region.

He said Pakistan firmly believes in legitimacy of the Kashmir cause and supports the peaceful struggle of the Kashmiri people for their right to self-determination that is promised to them by the international community through repeated UN Security Council resolutions.

The spokesman said that any attempt to equate the peaceful indigenous Kashmiri struggle with terrorism, and to designate individuals supporting the right to self-determination as terrorists is unacceptable.

He also condemned persecution of religious minorities in India and worst coercive tactics against unarmed Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir.

The statement said Pakistan stands ready and committed to resolve all outstanding disputes, especially Jammu and Kashmir, with India through peaceful means and in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions.

As for terrorism, the statement said Pakistan is primary victim of this menace and has suffered massive loss of men and material while fighting the scourge, which no country can match.

The spokesman said India has supported terrorist group Tehrik-e-Taliban as proxy against Pakistan.

He said Pakistan is also deeply concerned over sale of advanced military hardware to India, as they undermine strategic balance and stability in South Asia.
