Afghanistan to equip border forces along Pakistan with special modern weapons

KABUL - The commander of the Afghan Border Police Forces Gen. Juma Gul Hemat says the border police forces will be equipped with the special modern weapos.

Gen. Hemat made the remarks during a visit to the 1st Brigade of Border Forces in eastern Nangarhar province bordering Pakistan, Khaama Press has reported.

According to a statement released by the provincial government, Gen. Hemat visited Nangarhar province to inspect the headquarter and Kandaks of the 1st Brigade of Border Police forces in this province.

He thanked the commander of the 1st Brigade Gen. Mohammad Ayoub Hussain Khel for the better administration of the brigade which has resulted into the less casualties of the border forces while the achievements of the soldiers have been on the higher side.

Hailing the devotion of the border police forces, Gen. Hemat said based on the instructions of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the border forces will be equipped with modern weapons and equipment.

He also added that the border forces will also receive air support in a bid to boost the capabilities of the border troops in suppressing the militants.

Gen. Hemat said the main reason behind his visit to the 1st brigade is inspect the existing issues and take appropriate steps in resolving the issues with the establishment of more outposts remaining a top priority.
