Supreme Court asks ECP to de-notify PM Nawaz Sharif immediately

Supreme Court has disqualified Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Panama Papers case.
In a unanimous verdict, the five-member larger of the apex court, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khosa, asked the Prime Minister to step down and directed the Election Commission to de-notify Nawaz Sharif as Member of the National Assembly with immediate effect.
He has been disqualified for failing to mention in the nomination papers of 2013 the UAE based Capital FZE company.
The court asked National Accountability Bureau to file references against the Prime Minister, his children, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Muhammad Safdar on the basis of JIT report in six weeks time.
The accountability court has been directed to complete trial of the cases in six months.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Muhammad Safdar MNA have also been disqualified.
All material relating to Panama Papers would be sent to the National Accountability Bureau.
The court asked the President to take forward the democratic process as per the Constitution.
The bench prayed the apex court chief justice to nominate a judge to monitor the implementation of the judgment.
It may be recalled that larger bench had earlier constituted a Joint Investigation Team and a three member implementation benched led by Justice Ejaz Afzal heard the case last week and reserved the judgment last Friday.
