Agriculture development measures by Federal government

ISLAMABAD: (APP) Minister for Food, Security and Research, Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan has said that the Pakistan Muslim League (N) government is providing all possible facilities to the farmers for development of the agriculture sector of the country.

He was addressing the Field Day Seminar on Solar Date Dryers at Village Muhammad Chuttal Bhand, Pir Jo Goth Taluka Kingri District Khairpur Mir's, said a statement here on Thursday.

The Minister said that the federal government had decreased prices of agriculture machines in the Federal Budget 2016-17.

Tax in imports on Tractors and agricultural tools has been dropped to just 7% from 47%.

He said that Rs 3.50 per unit relaxati on had also been given to farmers.

He said that Rs. 500 had been decreased in each bag of Urea Fertilizer.

He said that Agriculture sector had been devolved to provinces after 18th amendment, after that name of ministry had been changed also, but Federal Government was working for development of agriculture sector throughout the country.

Federal Minister said that Rs 32 billion were allocated for agriculture sector last year and just Rs. 1.5 billion allocated this year and remaining funds directly given to provinces in the light of 18th amendment.

He has shown displeasure over agriculture reforms in Sindh province.

He said that Sindh is my homeland and my forefathers were migrated to Multan from Rato Dero.

At the occasion, the farmers demanded establishment of a Research Institute in the area.

Federal Minister has formed a committee under supervision of Dr. Muneer which will give brief detail over successes and advantages of Research Institution in the area.

Federal Minister said that decision in this regard will be made by keeping agricultural benefits in mind.
