Ministry of Human Rights initiatives under PTI government start to bear fruits: Report
ISLAMABAD - Ministry of Human Rights has carried out research studies on women's right to inheritance, street children, as well as the harmonization of domestic laws with international commitments. Talking to APP an official of the Ministry of Human Rights said that the ministry has conducted three policies and research studies on crucial topics including the protection to child from abuse, rights of minorities, protection against torture, improving legal aid and legislation. Policy against gender-based violence, policies on women empowerment and child abuse have also been concluded, he added. He also said the ministry was also redressing human rights violations through its helpline at 1099. Helpline calls have increased from 4000 to 15,500 per month after PTI government came into power, he said. The official termed the performance of child protection centre satisfactory.
