Entire political leadership united for security of country: FM
An in-camera briefing was given to leaders of parliamentary parties in Islamabad.
The meeting was attended by PML-N President Shahbaz Sharif and PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani, Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser and Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua.
Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Director General ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor also attended the briefing.
The forum unanimously expressed that they stand united in face of any aggression against Pakistan and will support the Government and its institutions.
They also expressed the hope that peace and stability will prevail as war is not an option.
Later briefing the media, the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the entire political leadership is united for security of the country.
He said leaders of all political parties have expressed complete solidarity with the government and armed forces of the country.
The Foreign Minister said Foreign Ministers of China and Iran during telephonic conversation have expressed full support to Pakistan.
Similarly, Saudi Foreign Minister Adil Al Jubeir has also conveyed the message of Crown Prince Muhammad Bin Salman to play a role for de-escalation in the region.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that he welcomed the offer of Crown Prince for a role in this regard.
