CPEC: China-Pakistan relations enters new phase with advent of One Belt, One Road: Liu Jiayi

BEIJING: (APP) Head of China National Audit Office (CNAO), Liu Jiayi has that China-Pakistan all-weather friendship had entered a new phase with the advent of One Belt, One Road initiative launched by the Chinese government, under which the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was the flagship project.

Talking to Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), Rana Assad Amin in a meeting held here last night, he said, the supreme audit institutions of both the countries had always enjoyed excellent cooperation.

Both the institutions had an important role to play in further strengthening the bilateral relations between the two countries as well as the mutual trust.

Liu Jiayi apprised the Auditor General of Pakistan about the reforms introduced to further improve the existing audit system of China.

Rana Assad Amin thanked his Chinese counterpart and assured him to further enhance cooperation between the two countries in the audit domain and invited him to visit Pakistan.

During the meeting held in cordial atmosphere, both the sides agreed to strengthen existing relations and cooperation in the audit domain and intensify exchanges to learn from each other's best practices and experiences.

They also agreed to expand capacity building programs between the two friendly countries so as to ensure that each side could benefit from their respective area of expertise.

Both the sides also took stock of developments at multilateral fora such as the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutes (INTOSAI) and agreed to strengthen cooperation in this regard as well.

Pakistan Ambassador to China, Khalid Masood who was also present during the meeting termed the cooperation between the supreme audit institutions of China and Pakistan a new beginning and positive development.
