Govt to expedite implementation, localization of SDGs: Kanwal

Parliamentary Secretary for Planning Kanwal Shauzab says the government is making endeavours to expedite the implementation and localization of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
She expressed these views at a meeting with representatives of various UN agencies in Islamabad, to discuss SDGs agendas with regard to monitoring and evaluation, civil registration and vital statistics system and population control programs.
The Parliamentary Secretary said the government is deliberating to launch vocational training programs at large scale to equip youth with skills and relevant expertise to make them compatible with modern job market.
She said the government also aims to empower women and provide them facilities and enabling environment to make them self-sufficient.
It was decided at the meeting that a national level conference would be organized with inclusion of federal, provincial and district level SDGs representatives to discuss the future agenda of advocacy and localization.
