KABUl – Afghan Taliban have taken over yet another district in Afghanistanas a group of Taliban militants attacked government buildings in KhwajaGhar district in Takhar province on Friday evening.

Taliban launched attack on the district from Dash-e-Archi district inKunduz province, which shares border with Takhar, a local official said.

Takhar governor’s spokesman Sunatullah Timor said Taliban entered KhawjaGhar district of Takhar just before 8pm local time.

He desperately appealed for reinforcement troops.

Some sources said the district has fallen to the militants, TOLO News hasreported.

The sources said lack of reinforcements was a main reason behind fall ofthe district to the Taliban.

However, the Interior Ministry spokesman Najib Danish rejected the claimsand said Khwja Ghar district has not fallen to the Taliban and thatreinforcement troops are on their way to Takhar.
