*ISLAMABAD: A meeting of Pakistan-Russia strategic consultation group hasbeen underway at the Foreign Office in Islamabad, ARY News reported onThursday.*
Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua leading the team of Pakistani officials inthe dialogue, while the Russian officials being headed by Deputy ForeignMinister Sergei Ryabkov.
The delegations exchanging views over the regional stability and securityin the meeting, the foreign office spokesperson here said.
It is the 13th session of Pakistan-Russia strategic consultation group, thespokesperson further said.
Pakistan’s foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua on Wednesday proposed aseven-point roadmap for boosting Pakistan’s bilateral relations with Russiaand observed that the Russian stance on recent military standoff betweenPakistan and India demonstrated that the complexion of the relationship hasalready changed.
The foreign secretary suggested a seven-point roadmap that could forge astronger relationship between the two countries.
She had expressed these views while speaking at Pakistan-Russia strategicrelations in Islamabad.
The proposed roadmap of relations comprises of resolution of the pendingissue of about $200 million of Russian money held by Pakistani banks due toa financial dispute, signing of a free trade agreement, deepening ofstrategic cooperation and understanding, boosting defence relations,Russian participation in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC),strengthening of people to people relations and development of a regionalarchitecture for peace and development in collaboration with likemindedcountries.
