14 Afghan Military commando killed, wounded by Afghan Taliban

FARAH CITY – 14 Afghan military soldiers killed and wounded including fourAfghan Special Forces personnel during a clash in western Farah province,an official said Wednesday.

10 security personnel were wounded in the clash along with four casualtiesthat took in Siah Jangal village of Bala Boluk district on Tuesday night,local officials said.

Noorulhaq Khaliqi, spokesman for Afghan National Army’s 2nd groundbattalion in Farah, told Pajhwok Afghan News the clash erupted soon afterthe security forces were dropped from a helicopter in Siah Jangal village.

He said four soldiers of the special ANA unit were killed and 10 otherswere wounded in the clash that left more than 10 Taliban fighters dead, headded.

However, a resident of the area, who wished to go unnamed, told Pajhwok hesaw five bodies of ANA soldiers on the battle ground. He had no moredetails.

Local residents said 13 militants including three Pakistani nationals werealso killed in the clash.

However, Taliban spokesman Qari Yousuf Ahmadi said 14 Afghan commandosoldiers were killed and seven others were wounded in the clash. Ahmadiconfirmed the death of only two fighters in the firefight.

The Ministry of Defense on March 10 had said four commando soldiers werekilled in a clash in Bala Boluk district while the Taliban had claimedkilling and wounding dozens.
