ISLAMABAD: Adviser said NASA’s reports had been endorsed by World WildlifeFund (WWF), World Economic Forum (WEF) and Bonn Convention.
He expressed these views during a meeting with the Finnish ambassador HarriKamarainen and under Secretary Annie Sappi Lahinen.
The meeting discussed various issues regarding bilateral relations andmutual cooperation on environment preservation projects, said a pressrelease issued here.
Amin Aslam briefed the ambassador about the ministry of climate change’sclean green project, 10 billion tree tsunami (10BTT), recharge Pakistan andwater management. He said the interest of Finland in 10 BTT project waspropitious and they appreciate their resolve.
He said Pakistan and Finland, through mutual collaboration, could bringrevolutionary change in forestry and mitigate disastrous climate changeimpacts.
“Pakistan is among the 10 most vulnerable countries due to climate change.Our temperature had already exceeded an average 1°C of the globaltemperature which was a matter of concern for us, we would take seriousmitigation measures for the cause”, he stated.
The Finnish Ambassador congratulated the PM aide for being elected as theVice President and the Rapporteur of the Conference of Parties (COP) to theUnited Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, at COP24 inKatowice, Poland.
He said 10BTT was a mega project and would definitely pose positive resultson the regional climate. The Finnish envoy informed the Adviser thatFinland was going to have her general elections in April and a new ministryof climate change climate change would be constituted.
Memorandum of Understandings (MOUs) would be signed to enhance bilateralcooperation whereas the Finnish government intends to collaborate in theplantation projects, scientific research and experience and to provideassistance to female Pakistani students of forestry in the universities ofFinland.
