Opposition demands joint sitting of Parliament to discuss Kashmir issue

ISLAMABAD (APP): Leader of the Opposition in National Assembly Syed Khursheed Ahmed Shah on Tuesday demanded to convene joint sitting of the Parliament on next Monday for discussion on Kashmir issue and other external and internal problems.
Speaking in the National Assembly on a point of order, he said situation in Indian occupied Kashmir (IHK) is very critical and there is need for drawing attention of international community towards unending atrocities of brutal Indian forces.

He said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had risen the issue at United Nations but the opposition wants to know about the role of Pakistan's United Nations Mission in this regard.
"Kashmir issue is an issue of the country and not of the government. So the House should also be taken into confidence," Khursheed Shah added.
The Opposition Leader hoped that the government would honor the demand of the opposition for joint sitting to discuss this issue.
Minister for Law & Justice Zahid Hamid said the government is in agreement with the opposition that the Kashmir issue is the most important and he would inform the Lower House about proposal of early joint sitting.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Dr Shireen Mazari also called for an earlier joint sitting.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai said the joint sitting should not limit to Kashmir issue alone but also discuss internal and external threats faced by the country.
Sher Akbar Khan also called for early joint sitting to send a message of unity to India and international community on Kashmir issue making them realize their obligations to UNSC resolutions.
