SC Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi lands in bing trouble

In Islamabad, a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) took place on Friday, during which a notice was issued to Justice Mazahir Naqvi, a judge in the superior court, as reported by ARY News. The Chief Justice of Pakistan, Qazi Faez Isa, presided over the meeting with the purpose of discussing pending complaints against judges in the higher judiciary.

Sources reveal that a complaint had been filed by Justice Sardar Tariq against Justice Mazahir Ali Naqvi. Notably, the meeting was attended by Justice Sardar Tariq Masood, Justice Ijazul Ahsan, Lahore High Court Chief Justice Ameer Bhatti, and Balochistan High Court Chief Justice Justice Naeem Akhtar Awan.

Additionally, Supreme Court Registrar Jazeela Aslam and Attorney General for Pakistan Mansoor Usman Awan were present.

The complaint filed against Supreme Court Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi in the Supreme Judicial Council included allegations of misconduct, the possession of illegal assets, and the accumulation of wealth through intermediaries. The complainant, Mian Dawood Advocate, has appealed to the judicial council to remove Justice Mazahir Ali Akbar Naqvi from the esteemed office of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

In a prior development, in April, both Justice Isa and Justice Masood had written a judicial letter to Justice Bandial, who was then the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), urging the convening of an SJC meeting to review these allegations.

Subsequently, in May, Justice Bandial referred the matter to Justice Tariq Masood for legal opinion.
