*ISLAMABAD - Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sayed Zulfi Bukhari has proposed to reward overseas Pakistanis who use proper banking channels to send remittance.*
“In recognition of our overseas Pakistanis who use banking channels to send money back home, my ministry has proposed to reward them for their contribution to the national exchequer. I will be backing this initiative with full force so in time we can kill the menace of hundi/havala," said Bukhari in a tweet.
As per the office memo shared by Bukhari, the ministry is in process of devising a Manual of Privileges for Overseas Pakistanis-2019. “Accordingly all relevant stakeholders have been requested to furnish the input/proposed privileges to be extended by their organization/department," the notification reads.
One of the proposed privileges for the overseas Pakistanis could be the 'duty free import of one hybrid car (up to 3000cc) to Foreign Exchange Remittance Card (FERC) holders, who remit $100,000, over a period of 2 years'.
Just days ago, Bukhari said that the government was determined to promote religious tourism to pull maximum number of tourists to Pakistan from across the globe for the prosperity of the country.
“Religious tourism has great potential to attract a large number of religious tourists including Sikh and Buddhists to Pakistan which was neglected by the past governments", he said while addressing the United Kingdom Sikh community at Rembrandt Hotel London.
