Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit BRT Project faces another setback

PWESHAWAR – Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit BRT Project faces another setback as it has been delayed yet again.

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has hinted at further delay in the completion of the bus rapid transit (BRT) project. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, KP Minister for Information Shaukat Yousafzai said that citizens would be able to travel by BRT buses in the city.

“It was decided in the beginning that there will be no subsidy on the project,” he said.

The minister said that the project was approved on March 28, 2017. “The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (Ecnec) had approved Rs49.43 billion for the project in July 2017. After a change, the Rs 66.43 billion cost was approved in November 2018,” he said.

He said that 87 percent work had been completed through 85 percent amount.
