Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan vows to resign

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to resign if the head of the country's main opposition party Kemal Kilichdaroglu manages to prove allegations of corruption against him, Sputnik has reported.
"If you have any proof, please provide it. And I will give an answer. Otherwise, say that you have slandered me and apologize. Let [Kylychdaroglu] prove in which foreign bank Tayyip Erdogan has an account. If he fails to do so, let him leave politics. And if he does [prove it], then I will leave my post," Erdogan said as broadcasted by the NTV television channel.
The statement comes after the Turkish Justice and Development Party headed by Erdogan blocked an inquiry in the Parliament connected with the publications, claiming that the sons of Prime Minister Binali Yildirim were involved in offshore companies.
The opposition leader has criticized the decision of the parliamentarians and urged Erdogan to disclose information about his own finances, as, he claimed, the children, relatives and associates of the Turkish leader allegedly invested several million dollars in an offshore company.
The lawyers of the president appealed to the court with a lawsuit against the opposition figure, demanding him to pay $380,000 in compensation for inflicting non-material damages on Erdogan with his statement.
